The Challenge
Despite the proven benefits of sport, too many Australians with disability are still left out — missing out on health, confidence and connection.
Changing Lives Through Sport was created in response to this participation gap.
1 in 5
1 in 5 Australians live with disability, yet many are left on the sidelines — missing out on health, confidence, and connection.
Only 25% of Australians with disability take part in sport or physical activity once a week.
People with disability are 60% less likely to meet national physical activity guidelines compared to people without disability.
The Campaign
Changing Lives Through Sport is coming to the Northern Territory in May.
This national campaign shares real stories of people with disability taking part in sport — and how it builds confidence, connection and community.
In the Northern Territory, the focus is on local stories and local voices. People with disability, families, and communities are invited to share their experiences and be part of a growing picture of disability sport across the Territory.
The campaign supports the Northern Territory Disability Strategy and helps increase visibility of disability sport so more people know where to start.
Delivered nationally in 2025, the campaign reached more than 1 million Australians and created a strong foundation to build on in the Territory.
Proudly supported by the Northern Territory Government.
Lives changed- and counting.
